Read:

Genesis 1:26–27; 1 Cor 15:49; 2 Cor 3:18; Hebrews 1:3; John 14:9

Summary
  • The word “image” in Scripture carries more meaning than a simple reflection or likeness.

  • Humanity was created in God’s image, reflecting Him in character, relationships, and purpose.

  • This image does not mean equality with God but resemblance in certain qualities.

  • Sin damaged the divine image in humanity, distorting God’s likeness in us.

  • Scripture teaches that believers are being transformed into Christ’s image through spiritual renewal.

  • The earthly image we bear now is incomplete and affected by sin.

  • Jesus is not merely a reflection of God but the exact imprint of His nature.

  • In Christ, the invisible God is perfectly revealed in visible and personal form.

  • Jesus makes God known because He shares the same divine nature as the Father.

  • His words and works reveal the Father’s character, will, and love.

  • When Jesus says, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father,” He claims full unity with God.

  • His “I AM” statements connect Him directly with the divine name revealed in Exodus.

  • No created being could fully reveal God’s nature or perfectly represent Him.

  • If Jesus were created, His death would not fully reveal God’s self-giving love.

  • Salvation depends on God Himself taking human nature and giving His life for us.

  • The cross shows that God did not send another to suffer in His place but came Himself in Christ.

Question
  • Why is Jesus uniquely able to reveal the Father?

Answer
  • Jesus reveals the Father perfectly because He shares the same divine nature and is the exact image of God.

Reflection
  • How does knowing that God Himself came in Christ deepen your understanding of His love?

Takeaway
  • Look to Jesus to know who God truly is, for in Him(Christ) the invisible God is fully revealed.
